Every time a new AI model is released, the hype and FOMO return. Businesses immediately focus on the newest and most powerful model as if it is the answer to every problem-often overlooking the cost and complexity of integration.
I believe harnessing AI through Agents delivers more measurable value than simply chasing a more powerful model.
The real value is not only in model intelligence. It is in how the model is connected to tools, context, memory, permissions, workflows and real business systems. That's where the ROI lives.
A very powerful model sitting inside a chat window is still limited. A more modest model, properly harnessed through Agents, Smart Routing, automation and deterministic systems, can often get far more real work done-at a fraction of the cost.
It is similar to running a finance department. You would not ask your CFO to process every invoice or reconcile every bank statement. You build a system where the right specialist handles the right task. That's exactly how AI should be architected for Malaysian SMEs.
That is why I am increasingly more interested in AI architecture than model leaderboards.
Models will keep changing.
A good harness can keep routing each task to the most suitable model, agent or system-optimizing both performance and cost.
