Board Meeting on ESG

All board members agreed:

“We must change for a better world.”

We discussed sustainability, energy efficiency, carbon reduction, responsible technology and the importance of using resources wisely.

The meeting ended with strong commitments and enthusiastic approval.

Then came the final instruction:

“Mat, please print 10 sets of the meeting minutes and distribute them to all managers.”

This is also how many organisations implement AI.

They talk about responsible AI, ESG, efficiency and sustainability—then send every task directly to a large AI model without considering whether a rule-based system, parser, automation workflow or smaller model could do the job better.

Generate everything with AI.
Analyse everything with AI.
Rewrite everything with AI.
Use the largest model available.

No routing.
No strategy.
No cost control.
No energy consideration.
No independent validation.

Using AI indiscriminately is not digital transformation.

It is simply replacing one form of waste with another.

Responsible AI begins by asking a simple question:

Does this task genuinely require AI?

And when AI is required:

What is the most efficient, secure and appropriate processing layer?

Real sustainability is not what we agree on during the meeting.

It is what we do immediately after the meeting ends.
