Scaling & Polishing
Karang gigi forms when leftover food and bacteria build up as plaque and harden into calculus. Scaling removes it to prevent gum disease and bad breath.

What is it?
Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on teeth. If it is not removed by brushing and flossing, it hardens into calculus (karang gigi), especially behind lower front teeth and around gums. Scaling gently removes the calculus, and polishing leaves teeth smooth so plaque finds it harder to re-attach. Root planing cleans deeper below the gum line for people with early gum disease.
