Area Coverage Rate Calculator
Estimate the spray coverage rate for tank cleaning nozzles and surface washing.
Formula
Coverage = (flow × 0.06) / effective_width where flow = nozzle flow (L/min), effective width = spray width × √(pressure / 3). Higher pressure improves atomisation and effective coverage.
Variables
- Flow — nozzle flow rate (L/min)
- Pressure — operating pressure (bar)
- Width — spray pattern width at target distance (m)
Example
20 L/min nozzle at 4 bar, 0.8 m spray width: effective width ≈ 0.92 m, coverage ≈ 1.30 m²/h. For a 50 m² tank, ≈ 38.5 hours per pass.
Application
Useful for estimating tank cleaning time, spray system design, nozzle selection and chemical dosing during industrial cleaning operations.
Limitations
Actual coverage depends on nozzle type (fan, flat, full cone), tank geometry, spray distance, surface condition and overlap. This is a preliminary estimate for planning.
