Formula

Consumption = nozzle output / (travel speed × blast width). Total time = area / (speed × width).

Variables

• Area — total surface area to blast (m²)
• Nozzle output — media flow rate from nozzle (kg/h)
• Travel speed — nozzle travel speed (m/h)
• Blast width — effective blast pattern width (m)

Example

500 m² tank shell, nozzle 200 kg/h, speed 10 m/h, width 0.5 m: coverage = 5 m²/h, consumption = 40 kg/m², total media = 20,000 kg, time = 100 hours.

Application

Useful for estimating media procurement, blasting time and crew scheduling for wet abrasive blasting of tanks, structural steel and industrial surfaces.

Limitations

Actual consumption depends on surface condition, profile requirements, operator technique and blast pressure. This is a preliminary estimate for planning purposes.
