State the tolerance before selecting the tool

Define how much recent data can be lost and how long the service can remain unavailable. These are business choices. A daily backup may be reasonable for one publication and insufficient for a fast-moving workflow.

Understand the concentration

A complete server pod simplifies deployment but concentrates dependency. A single failure may affect every publication in that pod. Separate pods isolate batches, while protected offsite backups address loss of the original server.

Fund the proof

A restore drill requires time, a clean environment and accountable owners. That expense is part of the recovery capability. An untested snapshot is an assumption; a timed and verified restore supplies evidence for the next investment decision.
